Oven Bag Turkey Recipe

Saturday November 7, 2009
turkey in an oven bagI have tried many methods for cooking Thanksgiving turkey. Ever since I began hosting Thanksgiving for my entire extended family, I have been on a quest for the perfect turkey recipe. I've tried, brining and roasting, flavor-injecting and wrapping in bacon. I've tried kosher turkeys, organic turkeys, heritage turkeys and frozen turkeys. And while there are plenty of ways for professionals to cook a perfectly moist and juicy turkey, there are all too many ways for home cooks to overcook turkey. That's why my all-time favorite method is cooking turkey in an oven bag.

Now, you must use an oven bag that is specially designed for cooking a turkey. Brown paper bags or regular plastic bags will not do (and they may cause a fire!). Just follow my simple, step-by-step instructions and you will have a perfectly moist turkey for Thanksgiving -- guaranteed!
