There is nothing better than a chocolate chip cookie that just melts in your mouth, is there? These soft chocolate chip cookies hit the spot. They're best eaten right out of the oven while they're still warm, but these cookies will retain their wonderful texture even after they cool down. The secret is a bit of shortening and an extra egg yolk in the batter.
If you're making this recipe now, I recommend chilling the dough for 15 to 30 minutes before baking. It'll help the cookies retain their shape and texture even when your kitchen is hot and humid.
