Green Bean Casserole - How to Get Creative With It

green bean casseroleHave you ever had the experience of changing one of the classic Thanksgiving dishes and having your family revolt? We don't want to go there, but there are ways to get creative without setting off a Revolutionary War.

Take the classic green bean casserole recipe It's simple, easy to make, and the creamy, salty retro goodness just makes everybody think of childhood with a soft filter lens. But you can add just a few things to the classic recipe to make it even better.

Check out my easy green bean casserole recipe ideas. I'll give you suggestions for changing the sauce, adding mix-ins like water chestnuts, bacon or caramelized onions, and my favorite adjustment, changing the topping. I like crushed cornflakes or natural crispy onions, like Lars crispy onions (compare prices). They provide the ideal textural contrast to the creamy casserole.
