This Crockpot split pea soup recipe
is a hearty, soul-warming treat when the weather is cold. It reminds me of the split pea and barley soup they serve at California Pizza Kitchen. And because the peas are pureed, it's smooth (except for the barley and carrots). A lot of kids (and adults) prefer that kind of smooth texture.
If you like this recipe, try some of my other vegetable soup recipes, like my warm and hearty broccoli cheese soup (so rich and creamy) and my 5-star creamy butternut squash soup (Granny Smith apples lend a sweet-tart flavor to this soup that can't be beat).
