These summer drinks are a refreshing way for the kids to cool off and a fun cooking activity, too. Just about all of these recipes are easy enough for the kids to make themselves. Try them all, and be sure to post reviews.
  • Orange Creamsicle Smoothies - Have you ever had one of those creamsicles from the ice cream trucks in the summer? This smoothie tastes just like that. It's sweet and citrusy and creamy and altogether refreshing, like summer in a glass.

  • Lemonade Recipe - We may be living in a text-happy, Facebook-loving world, but kids still like to set up lemonade stands. And when they do, they might as well sell the good stuff. This recipe is made with only real lemons, sugar and water. If the kids want to make this lemonade themselves, show them this step-by-step picture tutorial on how to make lemonade.

  • Strawberry Milkshake Recipe - This is an old-fashioned milkshake, made with fresh strawberries, brown sugar, milk and vanilla ice cream. The brown sugar gives this milkshake a depth of flavor that isn't obvious, but really makes this drink special.

  • Watermelon Smoothie Recipe - Nothing says summer to me quite like sitting on the porch eating watermelon. This smoothie is light and refreshing, and because I freeze the watermelon before making this smoothie, it has a thick and milkshake-like texture.

  • Peanut Butter Banana Smoothies - Elvis isn't the only one who likes the combination of peanut butter, bananas and honey. This smoothie recipe is thick and rich, like a milkshake. Kids will love it!

  • Strawberry Lemonade Recipe - Fresh strawberries make this recipe incredibly sweet. If you want a smoother texture for this lemonade, strain the mixture before adding the seltzer water.

  • Peach Smoothie Recipe - If you are a fan of peaches and cream, you will adore this smoothie recipe. Vanilla soy milk and yogurt add sweet, creamy flavor to this recipe.

  • Oreo Milkshake Recipe - Why go out to an expensive ice cream shop for milkshakes when it is so easy to make them at home. This recipe is the same one my oldest uses all the time to make for an after-school snack.

  • Cherry Vanilla Smoothies - You will never believe how great three ingredients can taste until you try these smoothies. Refreshing and sweet, this recipe will remind you of gourmet cherry vanilla ice cream.

  • Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe - This is not my recipe. It comes from the famous Serendipity 3 restaurant in New York. I've just streamlined it a bit to make it easier to make. The kids go nuts for this drink, which is a cross between a milkshake and hot chocolate.

  • Lemon Blueberry Smoothies - Lemon and blueberry are such a natural pairing, it's easy to see why this smoothie is such a hit with everyone who tries it. And the best part is this drink is super healthy, but the kids don't have to know that. All they will notice is how great it tastes.
