Once you learn how to make pizza dough in the bread machine, you will find yourself making homemade pizza all the time. This pizza dough recipe is so easy, it only takes five minutes of active prep time.

Use this pizza dough recipe to make the crust for any pizza, including Mexican Pizza, Heart-Shaped Pizza or even Stromboli.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 2 hours

Total Time: 2 hours, 5 minutes


  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2-1/4 tsp. active dry yeast


  1. Place all ingredients in your bread machine in the order instructed by the manufacturer.

  2. Select the dough cycle.

  3. When the cycle is complete, turn the dough out onto a lightly-floured surface. Knead several times. Divide in half, and stretch each piece to a 12-inch round.

  4. Top with pizza sauce and shredded cheese or desired toppings.

  5. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-18 minutes or until browned and crispy.

Pretty darn tasty!, Member trishbme

We, the BF and I, don't really have any complaints regarding this pizza dough. The picky eating five year old and the not so picky eating two year old both seemed to enjoy it too! We used extra virgin olive oil because it didn't really specify what type of oil to use. We also sprayed the cookie sheet with Pam and then lightly sprinkled corn meal on top of that before we put the pizza dough on it. Raw - The dough itself turned out beautifully. I think that it had a great pizza dough texture. It was very easy to manage. We even tossed it around a few times with success! Cooked - It turned out beautifully golden brown on the crust, nice crispness on the bottom (the corn meal may have made it crispier?) and perfectly cooked in the middle. It has a really good flavor too. Now, I only gave it four stars because this was only our second attempt ever at making pizza dough in the bread machine. The first recipe we tried was pretty bad. This recipe is great but I don't know that it compares to my favorite commercial/restaurant crust. I'm kinda holding off on a five star until we can give it another try...or maybe even after we check out a few more recipes! I am really looking forward to making some bread sticks out of this or possibly even some calzones!
