Orange Chicken Recipe for the Crockpot
This orange chicken recipe comes together in no time, because it's made in the Crockpot. I like to brown the chicken before placing it in the Crockpot, but if you're in a hurry, you can skip this step. Serve this Crockpot orange chicken recipe with
rice.
Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. oil
- 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/3 cup orange marmalade
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 2 tsp. minced fresh ginger
Preparation:
- Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch pieces. Place in a gallon-size plastic bag. Add flour. Toss to coat the chicken.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown chicken on both sides. Transfer chicken to the Crockpot. Add the remaining ingredients for the orange sauce to the chicken in the Crockpot.
- Stir, cover, and cook on low 5-8 hours or high 2-4 hours. Note: The widely varying cooking times have to do with the size, shape and type of slow cooker you own. The newer Crockpots will cook food faster; they seem to be set at higher temperatures. This orange chicken recipe can cook as fast as two hours in a newer Crockpot on high.
