Orange Chicken Recipe for the Crockpot

This orange chicken recipe comes together in no time, because it's made in the Crockpot. I like to brown the chicken before placing it in the Crockpot, but if you're in a hurry, you can skip this step. Serve this Crockpot orange chicken recipe with rice.

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/3 cup orange marmalade
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. minced fresh ginger

Preparation:

  1. Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch pieces. Place in a gallon-size plastic bag. Add flour. Toss to coat the chicken.

  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown chicken on both sides. Transfer chicken to the Crockpot. Add the remaining ingredients for the orange sauce to the chicken in the Crockpot.

  3. Stir, cover, and cook on low 5-8 hours or high 2-4 hours. Note: The widely varying cooking times have to do with the size, shape and type of slow cooker you own. The newer Crockpots will cook food faster; they seem to be set at higher temperatures. This orange chicken recipe can cook as fast as two hours in a newer Crockpot on high.
