Cranberry Cream Cheese Tarts
Looking for holiday appetizers that are easy, yet look great on a buffet table? These cranberry cream cheese tarts fit the bill. Mini fillo shells makes these tarts a snap to prepare. When I make these tarts for adults, I use goat cheese in place of the cream cheese, which adds a little tang. Look for glazed walnuts in the produce section of your supermarket.Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 3 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 packages mini fillo tart shells (15 shells in each package)
- 1/2 cup glazed walnuts, plus more for garnish (such as Emerald brand)
- 12 oz. cream cheese (or goat cheese)
- 2 Tbsp. strawberry jelly
- 1/4 cup sweetened dried cranberries
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Place the 1/2 cup of glazed walnuts in a food processor. Pulse until walnuts are chopped, but not ground.
- Add cream cheese, jelly and dried cranberries to the food processor. Puree until smooth.
- Spoon mixture in a gallon-size zipper-sealed plastic bag. Cut off the bottom tip. Pipe about 1 Tbsp. of the cranberry cream cheese spread into each mini fillo tart shell.
- Place on baking sheets. Bake 2-3 minutes, just to warm through.
- Remove from oven and garnish each tart with a glazed walnut.
Serve immediately.
