Cranberry Cream Cheese Tarts

Looking for holiday appetizers that are easy, yet look great on a buffet table? These cranberry cream cheese tarts fit the bill. Mini fillo shells makes these tarts a snap to prepare. When I make these tarts for adults, I use goat cheese in place of the cream cheese, which adds a little tang. Look for glazed walnuts in the produce section of your supermarket.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 3 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages mini fillo tart shells (15 shells in each package)
  • 1/2 cup glazed walnuts, plus more for garnish (such as Emerald brand)
  • 12 oz. cream cheese (or goat cheese)
  • 2 Tbsp. strawberry jelly
  • 1/4 cup sweetened dried cranberries

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Place the 1/2 cup of glazed walnuts in a food processor. Pulse until walnuts are chopped, but not ground.

  3. Add cream cheese, jelly and dried cranberries to the food processor. Puree until smooth.

  4. Spoon mixture in a gallon-size zipper-sealed plastic bag. Cut off the bottom tip. Pipe about 1 Tbsp. of the cranberry cream cheese spread into each mini fillo tart shell.

  5. Place on baking sheets. Bake 2-3 minutes, just to warm through.

  6. Remove from oven and garnish each tart with a glazed walnut.
Serve immediately.
