Although these marshmallows are quite pricey, they are incredibly flavorful.

On the other hand, if you have a little time and a candy thermometer, you can make your own gourmet marshmallows for a fraction of the price.

Guide Review - Gourmet Marshmallows from Laura's Candy

Gourmet marshmallows seem to be quite the rage these days. But some of the products that claim to be gourmet marshmallows are just regular, mass-produced marshmallows with a little flavoring and coloring added in.

Laura's Candy marshmallows are a cut above those gourmet marshmallow-wannabees, and they are head and shoulders above the average supermarket marshmallow by a mile.

With flavors like raspberry, key lime, butterscotch and Jack Daniels (for the adults, of course), Laura's Candy marshmallows are anything but average. And they taste...well, the taste is...incredible.

The raspberry marshmallows had the kind of lush, deep flavor you'd expect only from a fresh raspberry sauce or puree.

Of course, you'll pay quite a bit extra for these marshmallows than the typical puffed, styrofoam-like marshmallows you'd find at the supermarket. But let's face it: There aren't that many luxuries in life you can indulge in for less than $15. And they do make a very nice gift.
