Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe Video
If you like your chocolate chip cookies chewy, this oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe is for you. These cookies are especially good right out of the oven. If you prefer a crisper cookie, just bake them a minute or two longer.

Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup firmly-packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup sour cream (non-fat is okay)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats (not instant)
- 1-1/2 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- With an electric mixer, cream together the butter, shortening and sugars until fluffy and lemon-colored.
- Beat in the eggs, vanilla and sour cream.
- In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add this mixture the wet ingredients until it is incorporated. Do not overmix.
- Stir in the oats.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
- Drop by rounded tablespoonsful onto ungreased cookie sheets (or cookie sheets lined with silpat mats) about 2 inches apart. (Two inches is approximately the width of four adult fingers.)
- Bake 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown around the edges. Let cool 5 minutes on cookie sheets.
