Prepare the First Layer of Your Ice Cream Bombe

Let the lime sherbet soften to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Place the large metal bowl in the freezer for about 10 minutes.

Remove the bowl from the freezer. At this point, you may want to line the metal bowl with plastic wrap (not shown here) to make it easier to unmold the ice cream bombe later.

Spread the lime sherbet in an even layer on the bottom and up the sides of the bowl. Place a piece of plastic wrap on the bottom of the nesting bowl, and press down into the lime sherbet to help it mold to the bowl and form an even layer.

Freeze with the plastic wrap in place for 10 minutes. Remove the plastic wrap, and freeze until firm (30-60 minutes).
