Mexican Turkey Burgers Recipe
Turkey burgers are a double-edged sword for a lot of us. On the one hand, they're leaner and less greasy than hamburgers. On the other hand, if you don't do something to add some moisture to your turkey burgers, they'll turn out dry.This recipe for turkey burgers solves the problem by adding chopped avocado to the burgers. It adds moisture and fat (the good kind). Combined with Mexican seasonings, the result is a flavorful and juicy turkey burger.
Ingredients:
- 2 avocados
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely diced
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 2 lbs. ground turkey
Preparation:
- Prepare a grill for medium-high heat or heat a cast iron grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Peel and seed avocado. Scoop flesh out of avocado and place in a large bowl. Mash with a fork.
- Add diced jalapeno, cumin, salt and pepper, mixing well. Add ground turkey, mixing gently with your hands.
- Form into 8 patties, each 1/4-inch thick.
- Cook burgers 5-10 minutes per side, until they reach desired doneness.
