This Southern peach cobbler recipe is a classic summer dessert, made with fresh peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon and a biscuit topping. I like to make this cobbler recipe in a 9 x 9 baking dish, but if you want to make individual peach cobblers, you can make this recipe in ramekins. Just cut the baking time in half.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes

Yield: 6 servings

  • Peach Cobbler Filling:
  • 6-8 large peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • Peach Cobbler Topping:
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3-4 Tbsp. sugar (depending on how sweet you want your peach cobbler to be)
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 6 Tbsp. cold butter, cut into small chunks
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 Tbsp. milk

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a 9" x 9" baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, stir peaches, brown sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon together. Pour into prepared baking dish. Bake 20 minutes.

  3. While the peach filling is baking, prepare the cobbler topping: Stir flour, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon together.

  4. With a pastry blender or your fingers, cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  5. Whisk egg and milk together. Stir into cobbler topping until moistened.

  6. Drop the cobbler topping over the peach filling in mounds. Bake the peach cobbler 20-25 minutes, until topping is golden brown and peaches are bubbly.
Serve peach cobbler warm with vanilla ice cream on top.
