Recipe for Green Bean Casserole
This recipe for green bean casserole is made without cream soup. Instead, you make a roux of butter and flour, then add sour cream and shredded Swiss cheese. This tasty green bean casserole makes a great dish for parties, holidays and potlucks.Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sour cream
- 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
- 3-4 dashes hot sauce
- 1/2 tsp. soy sauce
- 4 14.5 oz. cans green beans, drained
- 1-1/2 cups crushed buttery round crackers
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 1-1/2- to 2-quart baking dish with cooking spray.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Whisk in flour. cook 2-3 minutes until flour browns lightly.
- Whisk in sour cream. Remove from heat and add Swiss cheese. Stir until melted. Add hot sauce and soy sauce.
- Place green beans in prepared baking dish. Pour sauce over green beans, stirring to coat thoroughly.
- Mix buttery crackers and butter. Sprinkle over green bean casserole.
- Bake, uncovered, 20-30 minutes until bubbly.
