Gather the Ingredients for Your Smoothies

Stephanie Gallagher
Learning how to make a smoothie is easy with these step-by-step directions. If you plan to make smoothies often, it's worth it to invest in a good blender. I recommend the Vita-Mix Turbo Blender (Buy Direct), because it purees ingredients, like frozen strawberries, beautifully.

Alternatively, you can use a food processor or a regular blender. Regular blenders sometimes get clogged, and you have to stop it a few times during processing in order to push the ingredients down into the blades with a spoon.

The first step to making smoothies is gathering your ingredients. In this case, we are making strawberry smoothies, so you will need:

  • 1-1/2 cups frozen strawberries

  • 1 cup frozen unsweetened pineapple chunks

  • 1 cup low-fat vanilla soy milk

  • 2 tsp. honey

  • 1/2 cup non-fat vanilla yogurt (or soy yogurt)
