Mashed Potatoes Recipe

Mashed potatoes are the perfect accompaniment to everything from beef brisket to roast turkey breast. To make these mashed potatoes extra creamy, use heavy cream instead of half and half.

Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs. Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1-1/2 cups half and half
  • 1 Tbsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic

Preparation:

  1. Place potatoes in a large saucepan. Cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. Let potatoes cook, uncovered, until tender when pierced with a fork, about 10-15 minutes.

  3. Drain. Return potatoes to the pot. Add remaining ingredients. Mash gently until potatoes are smooth, but do not overmix potatoes, or they will become gummy.
Serve topped with butter, if desired.
