Noodle Kugel Recipe
Noodle kugel is a traditional Jewish side dish for holidays and special occasions. Kugel can be sweet or savory, and this one is definitely on the sweeter side. I serve it with my favorite
beef brisket recipe and
applesauce for everything from Rosh Hashana to Hanukkah.
Ingredients:
- 16 oz. wide egg noodles
- 6 large eggs
- 16 oz. sour cream
- 16 oz cottage cheese
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 Tbsp. butter, sliced into chunks

- For Topping:
- 1 cup crushed graham cracker crumbs
- 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 cup chopped apples
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray.
- Prepare noodles according to package directions for al dente (in other words, if the package says 8-10 minutes, cook for 8 minutes).
- While noodles are boiling, whisk eggs in a large bowl. Stir in sour cream, cottage cheese and sugar.
- Drain noodles and toss with butter immediately. Mix into sour cream mixture. Pour into prepared pan.
- Stir together topping ingredients. Sprinkle around the edge of the kugel.
- Bake 50-60 minutes.
Makes 24 servings.
