Recipe for Watergate Salad

Watergate salad made its debut on the American food scene in the mid-1970s. • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut
  • 2 cups frozen whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), thawed

The coconut really adds something special, Member mayofam2

The Watergate salad that I remember from childhood had coconut like this recipe. Recipe books that I searched omitted it. I was happy to find this version.
