What's the best chocolate dessert you've ever eaten? What makes the best chocolate desserts so good?

For me, it's all about texture. I like to see a contrast in textures, temperatures and flavors. For example, I love a warm chocolate souffle cake with a ganache center topped with vanilla ice cream and nuts, because the interior is always warm and gooey, the topping is icy and refreshing and the nuts add crunch. The best chocolate chip cookies are the same way. Warm, melted chocolate chips oozing from a chewy cookie with ever-so-crisp edges are always a favorite of mine. What about you? Make Us Drool!

Chocolate Seven Layer Cake

Both the layers and the filling must be chocolate, to qualify for Best category. Add chocolate butter cream flowers and a maraschino cherry on top.

Definitely Sex-in-a-Pan

You won't believe how good this is until you taste it! Well maybe you would once you know that it has layers of chocolate pudding, cream cheese, whipped topping, pecans and chocolate chips! Here's the recipe on About's Southern Food site; http://southernfood.about.com/od/cakespiesdesserts/r/bl30418d.htm .

Chocolate Brownies

One of the best chocolate desserts for me in chocolate brownies, slightly under-baked with a warm gooey center. Extra points if they have a chocolate ganache coating on the top, but I won't discriminate.

Molten Chocolate Cake...

I think that was the name. It looked like a large souffle, kind of firm on the outside, but with melted chocolate on the inside, kind of like a volcano waiting to erupt... as excess calories!

Chocolate Pudding

I've loved chocolate pudding since I can remember - it's an addiction, really. While chocolate stuff is still always good, every chocolate dessert pales in comparison.

Chocolate Tallcake

Ruby Tuesday used to have this chocolate tallcake served in a 60oz margarita glass. It was 2 or 3-layers of chocolate cake with chocolate mousse between the layers, topped with ice cream, whipped cream, caramel, chocolate fudge, and crushed oreos. It was heaven.
